Relocation Services
Moving to a foreign country presents many challenges. Multicultural, multilingual Switzerland, with its decentralised legal and political system, can be particularly challenging for people intending to move here from abroad. But whatever the reason for your move – whether business or personal – we can help.
The first decision to make is where to live, so it is important to understand the relative advantages and disadvantages of the different cantons. Each canton has its own tax rates and fiscal rules (including regulations on lump sum taxation), and its own regime governing the allocation of residence and work permits, and the holding of real estate. Proximity to international schools, airports and cultural centres are also key considerations for immigrants. Once you have decided which canton to move to, you may also need to establish Swiss or offshore trusts or companies to hold assets, either before, during, or after your move. Rosetrust can assist you with personalised service in every case.
Howard Rosen is Managing Director of Rosetrust and Principal of Howard Rosen Solicitors, an English law firm in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. He can advise on corporate and personal legal matters relating to your move, proactively co-ordinate Rosetrust’s own and your domestic tax advisers as required, and organise the establishment and running of any company or trust structures you may need before, during, and after your move.
Andreas Simmen is a leading Swiss tax adviser with extensive experience of moving foreign nationals into Switzerland, advising on the various Swiss tax issues in an international context, and negotiating both personal and corporate tax rulings at federal and cantonal level as required.
Michelle Rosen-Oberman provides tailored seminars in English or German to help new and prospective immigrants understand how Switzerland works and integrate successfully. She has experience of making presentations to both adults and children from a wide variety of cultures and countries.
